Mr. Yuk Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 ok as the title states i bought an xsv2 that was dropped resulting in a shifted bottom plate/ cracked bottom slug i keep getting mixed answers as to whether or not this can be fixed can anybody tell me a definite yes or no and explain why?
97Jetta1637 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 call manufacturer. if it's shifted and cracked i'd say no unless you want to do major surgery on it for probably the price of a new one. #teamihop Two 12 inch DC XL's Carbon Fiber Cap Stetsom 7k Shell of box / baffle built by me Port / sealing the box by John Hone Fuck midrange Alpine-9886 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177428-97jettas-sql-trunk-wall-loudest-99-buick-century-custom-with-a-one-legged-owner/ price has no influence on how something sounds I told him to move the fucking port. they see me hoppin they stoppin they can't believe im so white and dirty It looks like you got so drunk, that someone came up and stole your leg.
Mr. Yuk Posted August 13, 2013 Author Report Posted August 13, 2013 its kinda hard to get ahold of fi only reason i came here
TeamHT Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Why would you go straight to FI? Where did you buy the crossfire subs from? From crossfire or a rep? Or used? A shifted motor can be fixed as long as that's the only issue. It's not a simple day job but can be done and you should have a couple options for repairing the motor alignment. Now...what do you mean by cracked? A lot more information would be beneficial, or pictures Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Mr. Yuk Posted August 13, 2013 Author Report Posted August 13, 2013 it was dropped on concrete chipped a big chunk as well as cracked all along the bottom it was bought used and fi is who manufactures crossfire thats why i went to them
TeamHT Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I know who builds it in house, but you did not buy an FI woofer. Have you even tried talking to a crossfire rep? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Mr. Yuk Posted August 13, 2013 Author Report Posted August 13, 2013 i dont know one i bought this used..
TeamHT Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Where safe you located? Chances of someone in your city being able to fix a shifted motor is small, so you might have to ship it. Finding someone who can fix it would be the best person to ask about the crack. Mind you they're probably going to want pictures as well Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
TeamHT Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I would make sure to get pics and maybe put in a request here http://www.fixmyspeaker.com/ServiceRequest.php It's a service they offer http://www.fixmyspeaker.com/ProductList.php?CatID=31 There's also http://www.midwestspeaker.com/speakerrepairprices2.html And a speaker hospital that stated they could fix shifted motors. One thing I'm curious about, has the impact affected the coil? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
