3000 Watts for $300 - To Good to be true? BB5000D AD-1 Results

Recommended Posts

Acting like a bunch of kids. Try and do the forum a good deed, and they jump on you. Maybe they need to cough up 2+ grand for a Ad-1 and test amps for themseleves. Bitching is pointless and useless. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't test anymore and post results, if it's only going to turn into a pissing match. So what it didn't do Rated power, buy something that will. But to dictate what everyone should buy is just pointless. How long will it last lol, who knows. The question is how long are you going to keep it? Does anyone know how long an amp will last, a week, a year, maybe 10-15 years. That's like trying to predict how long you gonna live, you can go at anytime

I have coughed up the $2k+ to buy an AD-1, just waiting for D'Amore to get the next batch of parts to build them. I will test my own amps and any amps that people want tested and post results.

The flaming here is not coming from the AD-1 test results. Facts are facts and that is what the dyno shows.

If you dont want to be bashed by the members here(most of us have a pretty good idea what we are doing, not your typical guy walking in off the street), dont try and defend something that failed the test.

First you said "I will happily tell a customer that it will do 3000w on proper electrical" BULLSHIT

Next you say it is good for the price....mehh that is a matter of opinion.

If you want to post Dyno tests, just post the video and results and leave it be. Just give information and let everyone choose to do what they want with it. As a salesman, my job is of course to sell product, but it is how you sell product that matters to me. I will NEVER tell a customer what they need to buy, I absolutely hate when people try to tell me what to buy. My job is to give the customer information about products and let them choose what they want to buy. I will give my recommendation, but at the end of the day it is the customers money and I want them to buy what they want. Customers will have more respect for you if you are honest with them and give them information. When a customer respects you, they spend more money with you and send their friends to you who in turn spend money with you.

Maybe im crazy, but that seems like an honest way to do business to me.

I agree 100% with your sales scheme CJ18. There is nothing more respectable than honesty. I will still stand by the fact that more than half of today's customers still don't give a shit about what it really does. They just want there 2 cheap 12's to bang. You have to understand that I'm in no way trying to compete with rockford, kicker, alpine, sundown, AQ, or any other higher end amp manufacture. By all means, there are better amps. What I will say though, is I would sleep much better selling the belva to a customer over a AP 3000, boss, lanzar, etc. You can't disagree with me on that. Did it fail to meet rms ratings, yes. That was never up for debate. If it does 2500-2600 watts dynamic on 14.4, and at the end of the day has better reliability than any of the amps in it's comparative class, then why wouldn't I try to sell it? You guys have to remember that car audio has many different audiences. Not everyone is willing to spend what we do.

I agree with you there. Some people will buy shit just because it is cheap. The guys that have been arguing here with you though are not part of that group. The group of guys here are some of the best informed of the car audio world and that is thanks in part to this community. You just have to understand the type of people who you are reaching on this forum. You dont see many builds using cheap equipment here, you see people that are willing to work hard and save to buy quality products.

What we see from your test is a 3k amp that only did 1700w and in our eyes that is a cheap piece of shit. If the manufacture rated it for 1500w, it would have been a totally different reaction. But the fact of the matter is that it isnt rated for 1500w. Now as for the price point, $300 still isnt a bad price for a 1500w amp.

What CJ keeps driving home and is trying to get you to admit, which you should, is the fact you were wrong in saying it is a 3k with good electrical. NO WAY!!!! BULLSHIT!!!! Man up already and then this can move on, by you defending it more you aren't helping your case any. I admit when I am wrong, get it over with already, or you can choose to keep acting like it will do 3k, bullshit, and continue to get flamed for like 5 more pages. :)

Glad this is finally starting to chill out. I know who I am talking to when I post on here. I'm in no way new to the game of car audio and I'm not afraid to drop some money and do a big build. Hell, my 8 12's in a mustang build exploded last year. Steve even shared it on his facebook. I left SMD for the past year and this bitching is why. I'm more than happy to be back and I want to post some AD-1 results once the test bench is done. I just don't want to have this bitch fest every time. I'm a full time student, while holding a job, plus owning a small business. It takes time to be on here. Cut me a break and give some positive feedback and I'll be happy to keep posting.

I never said it will do 3k. Go back and look. I said at best I see it possibly doing in the 2500 watt range. I did however say that if a customer asked for a 3000 watt amp, I would tell them that it would do it. That is a different story. How is that any different than Sonic selling any of there shit? All the lower priced product is over rated and everyone knows it. This is not new news.

Any customer looking for a "3000 watt" amp in the price range of $300 could care less if it does true power or not. I'm sure I can get that bitch to do 5k while it's distorting.

I don't care what kind of voltage or ohm load you put on that amp it will never see 4k let alone 5k. You can't pull power out of nothing, but you can pull smoke out of that POS amp trying!!!
