bbeljefe Posted August 15, 2013 Report Share Posted August 15, 2013 You should have no alternator problems with that small an amount of power, even on the factory electrical system. Reading battery voltage with a meter isn't the correct way to check a battery, either. You have to put a load on the battery in order to check it. Sounds to me like your battery is shorting when the alternator is sending a charge current to it. I would have someone with a battery tester do a load test on it. And.. make sure the battery posts & terminals are clean and that ALL ground connections are clean.
