just cause you have a million and one controlls does not make the pioneer better

the lack of crontrols is the best for comp KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID

haveing 50 band eq phase and a hole bunch other crap is just more way for you to mess up the sound

alpine = easy and fun with good sound

pioneer = head ache and a million buttons i dont wanna mess with

that imo

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

lol some people want that "crap" it gives the user more control. and its not only Pioneer who has this, Alpine has their 9887 with these features too(except its a 7band). thing about it is you dont have to mess with that EQ and i bet you probably cant tell the sonic difference side by side between an alpine and a pioneer on default settings.

To the OP whichever you may decide im sure it will be fine. I know a lot of people have had problems with the grounding issue on the pioneers, but that is the users/installers fault. They are plugging in their RCAs hot so the ground shorts out(inside the radio). just like a shielded rca if you plug them in hot they short inside and burn up and the shield resulting in a loud whine.

so make sure you plug in rca while they arent powered to avoid that problem.

Alpine has just as much "crap" as a pioneer does except the pioneer comes stock with it.....you have to pay extra for that shit most of the time with Alpine. Dont get me wrong i like both brands just wanted to point that out.

Thats weird mine doesnt skip at 157.....and if it did, it wouldnt be Pioneers problem its an Apple problem. Where is your ipod sitting when bumping? Is it dancing around inside the cupholder? Mine dont skip at all and the pioneer cd player doesnt start skipping till at LEAST 156db in my truck.

ive had some Alpines last 3 years, ive had some last 6 months before starting to fall apart....it all depends on how you use and abuse it.

actually hookin it up "hot" shouldnt be the problem.....it can happen if your ground on the amp has a bad connection or maybe even fell off. The amp will try and pull that ground thru the rca's causing it to burn that internal "fuse" on the inside (the ones on the board). Ive read about it but my Pioneer hasnt done that to me yet. Probably because my grounds are always solid.

Now back to the OP. Go to the store, pick the deck you like the best both functionality and looks.......sayin people dont like decks for their looks is like sayin us guys dont like girls for their looks :D Get the one you like, both Pioneer and Alpine make great decks!

yeah, either way its user/installer fault, not pioneers... like the majority likes to blame.

thanks meade

yeah i also like pioneers looks but alpines are really clean but i like the more fancy and crazy looks of the pioneer i think im just going to try out the pioneer and see how it works if i dont like it i can always go back ( gotta love best buy's warranty's)

my bro has had his for at least 3-4 years and has worked great and he loves it

so i think meade right its personal choice some people like alpine for there simple decks that sound good and some people like the fancy headunits with more controls like pioneer

so ill just have to see which one i like more

thanks guys and im still open for opinions
