The_WishMasteR Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Hi guys, First off want to say great forum, i have been a long time lurker but never had the need to create an account (until now...). Well my question is really a noob question but i really need the help. I recently bought 2 hertz spl monster 12" subs, and i was going to start the box but, according to the manual the box is to small it barely fits the sub let alone a port i already emailed Hertz about it but got no answer so far. So if you guys can help me figure the correct box for the subs i would really appreciate it. I want to be able to hear music mainly trance, hip hop, and sometimes some heavy metal (i know really different things but i like to mix sometimes lol) but i want to be able to really push some SPL as well (if that's possible) The subs are ratted at 2000W Rms and 8000W max, the amp is a Banda AudioParts VX3nd witch puts out 4500W Rms at 13.8V. The specs and pic of the subs are as follows: Its the MM12.1 and MG 12 2 x 1.5 (the two form one sub) Here is just the MG 12 2x1.5 And just to show you the box on the manual is wrong (i think) here it is: I know it really is to much to ask but please help me out guys. _paralyzed_ Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Advertising gimmicks. Most manufacturers show small boxes so they can fit in more vehicles and sell more subs. A bigger box is always better.The better question is how much room do you have to give up? I would build as big a box as possible, tune for my desired frequency and call it a day.
The_WishMasteR Posted August 20, 2013 Author Report Posted August 20, 2013 What is the amps rating at 2 ohms and 4? More to come...... Hi the amp rating is 3500w rms at 12v at 2ohm and 4500w rms at 13.8v at 2ohm, the amp is 1ohm stable but the brand don't state the ratings at 1ohm or 4ohm.

OP this is another rule of thumb suggestion from someone who clearly does not know what they are talking about. Does the manual say that it is 1 ohm stable? Yes the subs are 1.5ohm DVC and they are wired to show 1.5ohm and after measuring the ohm on the subs its about 1.5 to 1.7ohm so i think its ok. Regarding the amp yes the manual says its 1 ohm stable but they don't give specs, i know a few friends who have the same amp and they actually use them at 0.5ohm and never had a problem so i think they are good. In case you are wondering Banda Audioparts is a Brazilian company which makes amps. other Brazilian brands are Taramps, Sound Digital and Stetsom... and others but these are the most known and they all produce some real awesome amps, i know they are not that known in the US (by the way i am from Portugal) but check their websites and you will see.
