rockFord_Expedition
Just breezed through your build log. Even then you said one sub was moving noticeably more than the others. It was probably wired lower. Better safe then sorry, I'd pull the subs. rockFord_Expedition
Also, how did you gain match your amps? Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Awhitewookie
Just picked a cheap one up real quick from an O'Reilly because I realized I always used my friends. I'm guessing its not too good haha. Touched the leads together and got 0.00 Yea that did happen at first but once I got them gain matched by chevy4x4blazer when he used the dd1 to tune them. Also when I had them playing with the bc5500 before the water killed it they looked fine. I'll pull them if I have to but they are terrible to pull haha 62lbs each trying to remove them while sitting down inside the car MY BUILD 1998 Ford Explorer 2dr sport 1/0 Big 3 1/0 everything Alpine cda-9884 Crescendo CZ components (2) Crescendo bc2000's (2) Jolt 150ah (2) Yellow top optimas (1) Juicebox black cherry addition (1) Mechman 270 avbm miss my bc5500 and (4) 15's You know why people are ass holes online but not in person? rockFord_Expedition
To achieve a 1 ohm load with 4 voice coils, do this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp~Q~2~I~12 forget that the diagram shows 2 subs, just focus on the fact that there are 4 1 ohm voice coils wired to 1 ohm. You have two subs per amp, so you are running your amp at .5 ohm. Is that what you are aiming for? Awhitewookie
I am aiming to run at 1ohm. Not to be rude but I knew everything you just said, I've been trying to figure out how to run all 4 at 1 ohm off the bc5500. The ap3ks were running at 1ohm Edit. Ignore this. Awhitewookie
crap I'm sorry man. I looked at that completely different and then responded. I understand what you are saying now. So, look at my 4 sets of 1ohm terminals as a voice coils? Very nice, that helps a lot MY BUILD 1998 Ford Explorer 2dr sport 1/0 Big 3 1/0 everything Alpine cda-9884 Crescendo CZ components (2) Crescendo bc2000's (2) Jolt 150ah (2) Yellow top optimas (1) Juicebox black cherry addition (1) Mechman 270 avbm miss my bc5500 and (4) 15's You know why people are ass holes online but not in person? rockFord_Expedition
You said you are a visual person, I forgot that part.. First, on a mono block amp, 2 subs with quad 1 ohm coils, a 1 ohm load is not achievable. The closest you will get is .5, or 2 ohms. Picture this diagram as two of your subs. I know the diagram says four subs, but the only thing that really matters is that you have 8 voice coils on a mono block amp. So just to clarify, each pair of subs in the diagram is equivalent to one of yours. you could also do .125 or 8 ohms but neither of those are practical. So now, is your amp stable down to .5? I don't know how much box rise you have etc. you are getting and keeping in mind that impedance is nominal, especially on music, this could be doable. You better have a STOUT electrical system to say the least, plus a whole lot of other things done right to run safely that low. 2 ohms would be a lot safer though. Awhitewookie
You know I have 4 subs right? I do not want to risk anything with this amp at .5 I appreciate all your quick responses and trying to help me through this!
