I was going to build my battery/amp rack out of square tubing but I think I may steal your idea with the angle iron.....shit looks really good!! I was going to use square at first, but then I started to think about it and angle iron is half the weight and serves the same purpose.

Also 1/8" thick is plenty, I have used 1 1/2 and 1 1/4 building these. The base for everything is 1 1/2 material and the rest of the frame is 1 1/4. I did that so I could weld the 1 1/4 inside of the 90 and it still sit flush.
