-X-RaTeD-
Actually, something you can experiment with is setting your CPU to fold on 6 threads instead of 8. I ran into an issue where my 2600k@4GHz was doing around 20K PPD folding on all 8 threads, 100% usage, but my GTX 580 was doing only ~35k with an adv WU's while other people were getting 65k+. I paused CPU folding and the GPU's PPD started climbing up. Opened the resource monitor and saw the GPU was using ~15% of the CPU to fold to it's full potential. Folding on all cores of your CPU denies the GPU's the CPU resources that it needs, and it's worth it to fold on 6 threads at maybe 2-4k PPD less if it bumps your GPU's PPD up by about 30k PPD in my case. It looks like this is only an issue with Nvidia GPU's after this new Core 17 client which utilizes Open CL, AMD cards seem to be able to do what they need to do without using as many CPU resources. Just something to try, I haven't folded on a Quadro, but I'd be interested in what happens if you paused CPU folding on that rig for like 10 minutes and then check the GPU's PPD. boom50cal
It'd be cool if SM could run this with his killer gaming rig. I know there is several guys on here with some pretty bad ass gaming and rendering rigs. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. KiKaZz74
That'd be sweet. Hed help big time. Blows everyone away in 3d mark scores so y not in f@h too? Lol. Im curious as to the ppd he could do. I'm guessing around 200k-250k My SPL to SQ Build Log Vehicle:1997 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4 2009 Dodge Journey SXT5.2L V8 Magnum 3.5L V6 Stock AltEquipment: Headunit- Alpine CDE-147BT Mids/Highs Amp- JL Audio G6600 Class AB 6 Channel Sub Amp- Hifonics BRZ1700.1D @ 2 Ohms Taramps DSP3000.1D Sub- Hertz Hi Energy 12" HX300D SounDrive SDA3 12 Tweeters- Rockford Fosgate Power Series Silk Domes Hertz Hi-Energy Mids- Dayton Audio Reference 4" Full Range Drivers Midbass- Silver Flute 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" Processor- MiniDSP 2x4 RCA- 6 channels of SounDrive HF series Wire- EB Flex 2/0 -Member of Team SounDrive
-X-RaTeD-
Yeah, that does seem on the low end for that CPU, the graphs that I pull up show 12-28k, depending on the WU. It could just be the WU though. Ill try that whe n I get home. How about the amd chip? Seems low compared to the i7 When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. KiKaZz74
Should I bump that down a core or 2? Or add a flag to it? -X-RaTeD-
I'd experiment with 6-8 active threads and see which works out best for the PPD of that 7870. boom50cal
My 570 is doing ~30k ppd and my Athlon is barely doing 3k ppd lmao. Overclocked the 570 a tad more and turned the fan up to 70%.
