Pioneerchuck Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Sand it down, clean it up, and fiberglass over the affected area. Then paint. But if you're missing that center piece then you're going to have to fabricate one. You can make it out of fiberglass or use some floral foam and get the shape then fiberglass over that and mold it to the panel.Then sand and paint.

As well, I generally use the fiberglass cloth when glassing (Easier) but I see the body kit is made of the glass mat. Any benefit to doing thator can I use the glass cloth? Pioneerchuck Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 What they used to make the panel was probably just more efficient for them in the production process. The same reason boats are made using the sprayed on mixture of fiberglass and resin (forgot what they call it) But at the same time you can repair a boat with fiberglass cloth or mat and some resin. As for the floral foam, yes you'll want to make your mold piece slightly smaller than the area you're replacing to give room for the added fiberglass you are going to be laying down to mold it to 1 piece. But the foam is merely to give structure and shape to the piece you are making the fiberglass will give the rigidity and strength.
