95neon_thumper82
ok I'm in the process of designing a new box. and I'm going to need some fourty fives in the corners to help channel air. I'm wondering how do you guys go about making them. is there an easy manner of going about them? I'm probably over thinking it. but any tips would be helpful. pics would be helpful. thanks Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! Katt
Easiest would be a table saw. Rotate the blade to 45*, then go to down. After you measure how wide you want it to be.Can be done with a circular saw too, but a bit more tricky if you already cut your pieces to width. *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
95neon_thumper82
very basic. a table saw with a POS gate. a jig saw. and a drill. are there any I might get that would be helpful to me? Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 95neon_thumper82
I'm assuming a wider piece say four inches on the long side would be better that say 2 inches right? as far as helping the air go where it needs to? or is a fourty five a forty of any size sufficient? Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! Katt
I hate using the gates / safety shit on the table saw. Jam's up on me, lol. The way i'd do it, is measure maybe half an inch bigger to a inch bigger width wise on the piece i wanna 45, then put the guide up, that keeps it straight, so the angle of the blade, is at the tip of the end of the board. Kinda hard to explain for me. *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
95neon_thumper82
I'm building a sixth order and I'm trying to get the most out of it. I'm also trying to focus on craftsmanship as I plan on selling this box. I'm also going to be taking my sweet time with the build. attention to detail and all. so I figure good planning is a good idea too lol... plus I have to figure all this into the mathematical stuff also haha Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! I'm assuming the wider the piece of wood you start with the better. basically take you used cuts out of the middle for ease? Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 95neon_thumper82
oh also. should every corner be fourty fived or just the one at the mouth of the port? I'm going to be using a total of four 3 inch precision ports. if that's to be taken into account. Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! SnowDrifter
45s are fine IF you take their displacement into account when creating a box. I like to put **small** ones in the corners. Makes them stronger and it's better than glassing over a 90 degree angle. Bigger ones just eat up box volume. Doesn't matter if you designed for it, but it's something to think about ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
