You may find this useful. A lot of it is install dependent, so keep that in mind when reading

http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/98191-spl-gains-updates-on-page-16-slot-flares/

so what I take away from that is two different things... use pvc instead of precision ports.. and no 45s. lol. is that about what I should take away from it? :D though I may still 45 it for aesthetics. I plan on a BFW of 1 inch plexi to show the isobaric sexy workin. :D thanks for the link snow.

Yeah man sure thing!

Also read: "Installing 45´s on non pressure points of the box: 0.4 dbs"

I interpret that as: Don't go nuts and do 45s just for the sake of 45s. Use them as needed, but don't go overboard. Another thing to consider: he was using a burp box. If you install 45s into a box that is already tuned to your vehicle, you will change the net volume and tuning. Depending on your setup, this may become a gain or a loss. In his case, it was a loss. I've seen other people lose from them too. But on the flipside, I've personally gained with them and seen others gain too.

Seriously though: If you plan your box for them and account for the volume they eat up, I don't think you'll see a difference in score/sound either way.

I get ya. I think for the sake of craftman ship and design and the learning in thw process I'm going to put two 5 inch 45s in this box one per set of ports and just brace the rest of the seams for regidity. I have the triangle area equation and will be figuring that tonight and add that to my net volume to consider the space consumed. also taking the bracing into account I also have to figure the port areas to add in there too. on top of the net volumes needed. :D I want this thing to work so I'll do the math twice hahah.

45s suck ass bro, i mean, even if they help you out on your application, you aint gonna hear a difference, i wouldnt waste my time on them, on a wall they can surely help you out way more, but on a small daily box for a single sub? you are wasting your time!!

If you really want to use them, then i guess the 4" pvc like i tested is just fine, good luck!!

I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Panamenian 2009 & 2010 & 2014 Bass Race 149.9 Champion!
