bassman619 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Once I became apart of this forum I noticed a particular term that keeps coming up. Sound stage.seems people can talk for hours about it. So id like to get some opinions on what drivers I should get and how should I place them. I have a 4ch amp that does 75×4 @ 4ohms was just planning on going with two rf t2652 component sets. Where do you guys think these drivers should be placed? All tweets up front? Mids in stock location on doors front and back? Shoild i just get 1 comp set and full ranges for back? What would be ideal to have a good sound stage. Its going into an 05 dodge magnum with 2 t2 15" subs You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Kevin M Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 It all depends on what you are after. For most people I would recommend a simple setup. Simpler is easier to set up and tune. Most factory setups have good imaging but bad tonality. This means that 9 times out of 10 in newer cars the factory positions are a great place to start. Tonality improves with aftermarket speakers and amplification. I am familiar with that car. My mom has an 06'. You could place the tweeters in the factory dash position and use the front doors for the mids. This should give you a nice base to start from. As far as rear fill you will get alot of differing opinions. It comes down to preference. Some people like the "surround sound" or ambiance that rear speakers provide. It can also have the effect of making the listening area (car) sound much larger than it appears. I would set the fader so that the front speakers are most dominant and the rears just a little more than audible and see what you think. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
RooTxBeeR Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 He gave you some great advice. One thing to try. Is off of the stock locations, try aiming them in different directions to see how it effects the sound and see what you like. bassman619 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 Ok..so for the rears should I go with pure mids do components and put the second set of tweets in the front or just go full range in the rear? You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Kevin M Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Ok..so for the rears should I go with pure mids do components and put the second set of tweets in the front or just go full range in the rear? You could do mids only in the rear. It's what I would do; simply for the reason that I feel that tweeters behind me draw the stage back but that opinion isn't shared by everybody. I would only run pair of tweeters up front too but that is just one mans' opinion. lol If you get two comp sets, one for the front and back; listen and see what you like the best 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
bassman619 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 And what about midbass drivers like 8"s or 10"s? You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
Kevin M Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Where are you going to put them? The rear location can fit a 6x9 so with a little fabrication you might be able to do either. If you put them in the back I would cross them lower than 500hz and make sure you deaden the hell out of the panels. It will be alot of work but the results should be pretty great. I wouldn't add more until you install the front comp set. and see if you are missing anything. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
bassman619 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 I have seen people put in 8" midbass in the front doors..but I have no idea what advantage that would yield..just want good sq and of course im already going to have good spl with two 15"s.. Kevin M Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Well if you put the 8" in the door you will need to get one that crosses higher to match to a tweeter or you would have to find a place to put the 6" from the comp set. You could put it in the kickpanel but you will need to fabricate something. I would put the mid in the door and the midbass in the kickpanels. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
