will damaged coils hurt my amp?

I should have probably posted this in "amplifiers" to start with. I have a mmats 3000.1 on 2 Rockford p3 12's. I know it's too much power. My could are reading crazy numbers on a multi meter. Will this damage my amp? The speakers were only temporary, but the amp obviously isn't. I don't want to burn it up...

If they short out and the amp's protect circuit doesn't kick on in time, it could damage things.

Coils reading crazy doesn't necessarily mean they are bad though. Take the sub in a quiet room free of drafts and measure it

Are you testing the coils with the vehicle on or off? Are the amps connected to the subs during testing?

Thanks drifter. I should probably just PM you when I have a question. You haven't steered me wrong so far! They use to read around 1ohm. This was before I put massive power on them. I checked today and it's reading 137, 149, 83... they smell a little funny too. Still sounds great though.
