whats your opinion?

That is very bad. This usually means that your are overpowering the sub THERMALLY. Meaning your coil cannot be cooled enough for the kind of current that's passing through it. So it burns.

The thing is MMATS amps ain't no joke. They are efficient and they are underrated. It's prolly putting out more power than you think. Turn down your gains a little or your subs will deteriorate.

let me re-word my ? I know its bad for them to burn or get overheated but how bad is it to just get a faint smell and turn the volume down.....in other words in all them videos of steve beatin the 4 18s are you tellin me he never smells his woofers at all not even a little bit

Smelling the woofers and turning them down before you blow them is an art. Yes you can smell Steve's coils after he been giving demo's, The trick is to know when to say when. Smelling your shit isn't all bad, not turning it down is. :^

Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Most people get to "know" their system and know what it can and can't do...Why do you think Steve doesn't blow his shit...He knows what they can do and knows their limits...Same thing when I had my old L7s...You smell it, turn it down...

My friends L5s start smelling after a while and he turns it down...No problem at all :^
