cjvue
Anyone use line driver for SPL? Does it help? I have RCA output of 4v rms already from my stereo, will it benefit me using this line driver (see below)? Amp is NS1 btw. http://i.seimg.net/images/527551/main/overdrive-gray.jpg http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_28924_AudioControl-OVERDRIVE-OVERDRIVE-PLUS-Gray.html My Build Log- T E A M S U N D O W N A U D I O - 2013 DbDrag WF SS1-2 - 5th Place 154.6db 2013 MECA Mod3 CA State Final Champ 153.4db Powered by: Sundown Audio
fecupe2001
i tried that only once, didn´t gain ANY, i did have an alpine 9886 wich was putting over 3v iirc, tried my buddy´s audiocontrol overdrive , set that thing to almost 7v just to try it out, set the gains again , tried roll up burps, etc etc, guess that thing helps you out if your HU sucks, i really think you are more than ok if your HU is doing 2-3v, after that, i think is a waste of money and time, in my opinion, you won´t gain anything if you already have 4v getting to the amplifier!! ham4864
Well i only had a 2volt head unit but instead of buying a line driver i went with a Clarion Eqs-746 which is a pre amp/line driver. 2009 bmw 5 series Head Unit Stock Amplifier-JL Audio JX 360/4 Processor- Audiocontrol LC6
SnowDrifter
That's what your gain is for. All it would do is result in a lower gain setting. Power output would be the same ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
cjvue
Shoot and some people would say line driver helps a few tenths. I also have a Alpine 9886 for rolling the volume from outside of the vehicle during spl runs. For small show I would just use my Pioneer, which is installed in the car. Both seems to do the same number, though lol. Might have to look into the PAC L1 so I can roll the volume on the Pioneer instead of the remote. SnowDrifter
I haven't noticed a difference in score off the head unit, 7v line driver/crossover, with or without the lc-1. Granted I reset my gains each time I make a change, but it's been the same. Make sure you reset gains after the lc-1 as it does quiet down the signal a tad ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
fecupe2001
trust me, i´ve tested the bass gain remotes o the amplifiers, ALWAYS drops 0.1 on any amplifier i´ve used, pretty sure you´ll drop the same using the LC-1 lol I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. I wanted to be able to roll the volume so amp won't protect, especially at 0.25 ohm lol. SnowDrifter
Here's a link to some test tones that are roll-in themselves.
