sundown escort
So I am build a new box for 2 sa-12s. It will be about 3.8 ft^3 with about 46 in^2 of port area. I cannot fit 2 twelves in this box in the sketch on the left. The sketch on the right has 2 ports at about 23 in^2 each this would fit the 2 twelves (subs forward, port back). I have a small trunk. So my question is: Would the sketch on the right give me close to same results as the sketch on the left? This is a top view sketch. Here is the pic: http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a497/sundown-escort/subboxsketch_zps655e08c7.jpg Help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Car is 2001 Ford Escort Zx2 Box is 28" L, 28" W, 13" H
Sergeant_Skyrim
I personally don't think the box on the right would work as well as you'd think. I feel like either the ports would work as well as they should or it'd act more like a sealed box with a leak. Maybe try having the subs on the front or the back of the box and then port out one of the sides? Like the first design, with the port the way it is and then both of the subs on the right side of that design Build in progress
Joe X
Post the vehicle , dims for a box, etc, there may be other options, subs forward port back is rarely used and may not give best results on music in many cases.

Joe X
You can shrink down to 25"W if needed and use a single flared 6" port or 3 4" flared ports to the driver's side, better than port to the back anyways, clearance for the ports is same as their diameter. Thanks Joe. I figured it out. The box is going to be 34w x 26d x 13h. Its a tight fit, but works(i built a model box out of scrap 3/4 plywood). The subs and port will be firing into the cabin and im going to seal off the sides
