Aeroin Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 I would say can't go wrong with 3 cu. tuned to 34-36. What impedance are you running now? 4 ohm to the amp, @500 rms gains set with a multimeter.
cloud77 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 so they are dual 4s? I don't recommend doing this, but I would be dropping that amp down to 1 ohm and monitoring it. see if you can get an audible difference or as in the words of Pat Shurmur " a no-no" 2004 Grand Prix GT (2) 12" RE XXXs (04/05 XBL^2) 5 cu. ft tuned @ 35 Hz MMATS HD4000.05 MMATS SQ4100 Infinity Kappa components Juice Box black cherry Duralast platinum group 34 1/0 KNU OFC, 2/0 welding Singer 250A

I don't recommend doing this, but I would be dropping that amp down to 1 ohm and monitoring it. see if you can get an audible difference or as in the words of Pat Shurmur " a no-no" I'm actually fairly certain the amp would be fine under a 1 ohm load, Its the subs that I think would have the issue, Even at their rated 250 a piece RMS I have smelt coil after long bump sessions. Edit: Yeah they are dual 4's
cloud77 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 I just looked up the amp, and in no way is it 1 ohm stable. People claim to run them @ 1 ohm in the reviews, but the amp is supposed to have some sort of "cooling itself" technology. So it might just fry and not shut off into protect. beware. I'm sure it has an ohm cut off, or creates a lot of distortion @ a certain load however. Find out and give it a try! 2004 Grand Prix GT (2) 12" RE XXXs (04/05 XBL^2) 5 cu. ft tuned @ 35 Hz MMATS HD4000.05 MMATS SQ4100 Infinity Kappa components Juice Box black cherry Duralast platinum group 34 1/0 KNU OFC, 2/0 welding Singer 250A
jarrius Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 I would not do it. Also if your smelling coil now you probly have your gain up to high or have your bass boost on.
