Aircraft plug in car audio

So my xs power VCM connector went out awhile ago, and I installed a switch, the switch only had 3 connections, so to get it to work the VCM only worked as a volt meter, I couldn't change the voltage.

I had some extra time to fix it and I used 2 cannon plugs, these are used in aircraft to hook into the airframe, or components, and pretty much everything that has wires except coaxials.

The best use for these is to go through a firewall, you can only use it with smaller gauge wires (16-22 gauge)

You could use them in small build boxes instead of the regular terminals.

I used them just as a connector, I might mount it to the firewall later on as another project.

You need a pin crimper like this

And you put them on like this then insert them into the plug and it has a locking mechanism inside that holds it in.

There's a lil more to it but that's pretty much the idea of it

It's kind of impractical in a car just because these crimpers are around $500 and the cannon plugs can average around $40 just for one.

But we had some hangin around so I used em.

Thats a pretty cool idea man. used those at my last job working on military vehicles. Wish they were cheaper, but they seemed to be solid as hell.

Reminds me of being in the military. We had a bunch of those on the jet engines including giant ones for the generators on the csd. Those are quick release right. No safety wiring then. lol
