You basically told the alternator to turn on and the regulator tried to up the current to charge and it went nowhere and spiked the voltage and most likely took out the rectifier and the regulator in one shot. That's like blowing up a balloon until it pops. Which in this case is the diodes in the rectifier and they clipped until they blew up.

Guest DC Power Kyle Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 99% sure it's smoked and needs a new rectifier at the least. I would call us on Monday to set up and RMA You can always hook it up and test it and if you get no output or horrible howling you know something is broken.

get_us Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 Ok, so I hooked and wired up temporarily my battery to test the alt. With it off the battery reads 13.1 volts With it running it reads 14.9 volts... So I'm all good yes???
