Sagz Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 I've installed this system almost a year ago and everything was going fine until last week. My Amp stop working and I can't find why, the rest of the systems work fine. I've checked if it was blown by giving the remote wire power with a jumper from the Amp power source and when I've turned my radio on my amp turned on so as my Sub .Then I've checked behind my radio unit if I had any power from my Remote wire output and I don't. I've also checked my amp and radio unit fuses and they are fine. One thing that I've done last week on my car was installing HID and when I was plugging back the battery it made sparks, and also my unit reset it self for some reason while I was driving. Is it my unit that has a problem and is it repairable or do I need a new one. Thank you for your help. System: - Unit : JVC KD-S88BT - Amp : Alpine Mrp-m500 -Sub :2x kicker Comp 10''
David Bailey Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Check your fuses. You may have blown one when you sparked the battery. In-line fuse on your power wire maybe?? finkster Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 You answered your own question. If the remote does not have power, the amp will not turn on. Take a jumper wire from the + side of your amp INPUT (not the speaker leads) and jump it over to the remote turn on input of your amp and see if it turns on. If it does, then your remote wire is bad. The fact that there is no power from remote tells you already that your remote is bad. Something is wrong there. EDIT: you already jumped the wire and it turns on and plays? Then again, your remote out is bad. You can try using the red wire from your head unit instead and see if it works. Just make sure your amp turns off when you turn the ignition off.
