G-Rad Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 My cousin and I have been working on a 2007 Ford Focus and right now I have a decent rig going. But, I want to know what the amp I'm u sing to push my 2 MTX Thunder T7512-04's is really doing. Has anyone clamped a Hifonics Gladiator GLX1400.1D? Right now the amp is running at 2 ohms, and says it does 1,000 RMS x1 @ 2 Ohms. However, these MTX 12's are fairly loud, but are barely moving. (The woofers are actually still quite stiff). This is why I wonder what the amp is really doing. If anyone has tested this, please let me know. Thank you. So each may be getting 250-300rms on a good day with great electrical since hifonics likes a lot of power. No I have not done a clamp I'm just using the info from sonic and the fact that that line of hifonics does not do rated power. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
G-Rad Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 The general rule of thumb is 10a for every 100w, so 2 70a fuses = 140a, amp does 1400 RMS, so I"d have to guess that it's probably not doing exactly that since there is drop and everything in voltage. I'd be happy to see if it even does 800 at 2 ohms. But 500 is rather low IMHO, but then again, I wouldn't be surprised. It's not a BRX or BRE series. jarrius Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Most of the hifonics that have been tested have been the BRZ or BRX line and yes they do rated but are power hungry like a SOB. the gladiator line i have heard does not do rated and puts out dirty power. But if you want to know you can see send it to some one with a AD-1 and have them test it for ya. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole

jarrius Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 We'll facts are facts from what sonic said any way. 1000wrms at 2ohms and 1000wrms total output so to me that means 1000wrms at 1ohm thus it should be about 500 at 2ohms. I just don't understand why it would say 1400wrms at 1ohm then say 1000 rms max 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
G-Rad Posted November 12, 2013 Author Report Posted November 12, 2013 This amp says it's CEA compliant, so I would expect to see dirty power for the last 100-250 watts or so. I'd have to assume it's underrated by that factor in clean wattage. n8ball2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 The last hifonics amp thst went on the dyno didnt do rated but yet every person thst ran it still found a way to try ro justify it.
