I just installed my HO alt last night, and have a few questions. 1) When I shift fast, my belt squeals for a second. 2) When I rev over 4k rpms (my redline is 7k), there's a strange noise under the hood. Can the be from overspinning the alt? It has an overdrive pulley. What could be causing these? My belt seems plenty tight.. It doesn't squeak on startup or under load. I got some belt for $20 from autozone and it didnt fix the problem.. my friend recommended me Goodyear belt which was even cheaper and it solved the problem.. sometimes Loud is NOT pretty Sounds like its safe to go ahead and bend that ass over. I'm more concerned about the alts speed when my engine is over 4000 rpms. Could I putt stock pulley on the singer? I don't mind the lower idle output.
