dugjt88 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I've got a 12" DC XL M2 I want to recone to an 18". I was going to go with stock DC parts and thought hey what about a Ti frame and 10" spiders. Not sure if this would even work. Any thoughts or insight would really help. Thanks in advance. I don't see why this couldn't be done with a little bit of enginuity but idk if many people on here get that deep into the mix... but I'm sure someone should know something. so BUMP. <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! Krakin Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 The TI baskets are a 5" 6 bolt pattern. And they do use a 10" spider landing. If you are going for the large baskets like on the SMD and other big woofers. The 18" basket costs $80 plus shipping for where I know to get it. Krakin Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Cone composition will matter for your end results. I like the butyl rubber surrounds although foam shouldn't hurt. Also the number and type of spiders matter. You also have to make sure the voice coil and former you get will fit the cone and gap of the motor. bighossf150 Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 the basket is $80 from ultra audio on ebay and once you get the basket get with either psi or spl audio for a drop in recone. Ive dealt with both companies and both do great work but spl is a little quicker than psi but psi has more options Used to have a loud truck 2009 Corvette Z06, H/C/I, 150 shot, g force tune, 730rwhp/690rwtq 2013 F-150 limited, MPT Tune, leveled on 35"s
dugjt88 Posted October 20, 2013 Author Report Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks guys. Yeah I've already talked to psi about it. If I've got the basket and motor they can make a drop in. I just wasn't sure about the bolt patterns matching. I didn't want to tear it apart yet since it's a perfect sub They call me Girth "The Silo" Brooks- I ain't storing corn
