pioneerforlife Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Ok so I am building a box for one of my friends. he has a single Soundstream SPLX15. this is my first time using Torres and I am a bit confused between port area and port area per foot. which one should I be looking at to find total port area. the box is about 4 cubes and tuned to 36HZ. I want to get about 50 square inches of port area but I am not sure the difference between port area and port area per foot. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
k3n12ock Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Port area = total port area Port area per cu ft. = how much per cubic foot For example: You have a 5cu box with 100sq in of port (Port Area) Port Area Per Foot = 20 sq in 05 xB - (2) EVIL 18s - (2) BC3500s - NO WALL Channel 1: http://www.youtube.com/k3n12ock Channel 2: http://www.youtube.com/MrK3n12ock2
JamieHoward Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Port area is total port area - you have indicated that you want this to be 50. Port area per foot would be the total port area divided by the net volume of the box. If the net volume is 4 cubes and the total port area is 50, then your port area per foot would be 12.5 inches per foot. - 50/4 = 12.5.
pioneerforlife Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 ahhh ok that makes sense. also just wondering if 50 square inches is enough for that driver. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
