So i just got my at 1200.1 today. And i also just bought a fiat 500. the alternator is only 95 amps. I'm pretty sure that amps not going to work on the stock alt (correct me if i'm wrong). but if i wired my sub down to say... 4 or 2 ohms (instead of 1ohm) is the alternator doing less work?

Yes, if you wire at higher ohm loads it will be less stress on the alternator, but honestly if that amp is 1200 watts at 1 ohm would you probably be fine with big three, an xs power batt or other AGM under the hood and 0 gauge to the amp.

ok. i might have to do that. this amp is the same as the ct sounds 1400.1 that steve meade tested last week (minus the bass knob). it did 2200 watts or something at 14.4 volts so im kinda worried about using a lot of amps

If your really worried just wire it to a higher ohm load while you upgrade your electrical then when you feel it's sufficient drop it down to 1 ohm and let it wang.

Stock alts are usually good to charge about 80-100 ah batts which can power up to 1500W amps.
