4th order experiment

I have a question... and its probably a retarded one so please forgive...

I've seen a few boxes around with the sub firing at the port... may even seen one or two on here and there were no apparent troubles. in fact I believe there's a guy on YouTube with an eclipse he has a fourth order in there and a huge long ass port and the subs are seemingly firing right at it... now why do some have problems with this and some don't? I'm just wondering. personally I like the extra resonance that you get from not firing at the port but yeah... what's up with that?

I'll draw you up something from Sierra s specs up there... do you have any particular dimensions that you need met? height restrictions and what not? or just something that will fit the sub and fit in the trunk?

here's the cutlist I'm getting.

4- 16x13 these will be the two baffles for the subwoofer(I'm a fan of making syre she stays put) as well and the front and back panels.

2- 22x17.5 the top and bottom

2- 22x13 for the two sides.

does that make sense?

I'm assuming you'll be using .75 inch or similar thickness of mdf. so that is what I have alotted for in the construction.

I trust sierra on the specs and yes it will work beautifully if you'd rather have a slot port that should be easy enough. divide 7 by the desired length or width to find the other dimension or find the square route and use that number to build a square port.

to answer your question yes... actually I think you'll like it a lot.

I never gave any specs, did I?!?

Probably just say your pic by BB's suggestions.

Or got mixed up with the yellow and black avatar scheme.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
