so i am needing to rebuild my motor..

i have been allowed by the wife to drop 3 grand in to it..

What would you get?

i have to have rings since im rebuilding cause of oil blow by on cyn 7 and 4.

motor: 4.6L SOHC

car: Mustang GT

year: 2001, motor is 2004, Vin X. Romeo block

tranny: tremac 3650 built to handle 800+ hp ( just done in march 2013)

i was thinking comp cams ( havent figured out what lift to go with, using stock heads so i have to watch valve-to-piston clearance)

intake ( dont know what brand yet)

BBK shorty headers

RAM HDK clutch

switching to 4:10 gears

hand held programmer. ( most likely hypertech)

whats done to the motor as it sits:

BBK under drive pulleys

BBK cold air kit

BBK 70mm throttle body

throttle body spacer

ported upper intake

24# injectors

cat delate exhast with H pipe and flowmaster 40's ( i believe 40's)

I can port the heads myself, do all the labor. good friends at the machine shop to do all the work on the block for a decent price.

was going to deck the block, resurface the heads. vat the block, polish the crank and re-hone the cyn walls of course.

Shorty headers are pretty but really don't do much so I would move that money around. If you are going to stay N/A then I would up the compression by milling the head or getting new higher compression pistons. A good custom grind cam, then get a dyno tune not a hand held. If you don't live near anyone with a dyno then get a mail order tune and use data logging to dial it in. You could also replace only what is actually broken then piece together a turbo kit. With a little work and patients you may be able to get a reliable used turbo setup for your budget assuming that you can install yourself.

2003 Ford F-150 Reg Cab layin body on 26's

2003 Tahoe 3/5 drop on 26's with a 408cid Supercharged engine.

2011 Camaro 2SS 2005 VW GTI Stage II ECU, CAI, 3" turbo back exhaust, FMIC, lowered 2" on some plastidipped 18's

2003 Hayabusa lowered, stretched, cams, nitrous and custom paint
