TrevorMunro
First off here is what I have 2009 Tribute V6 180amp alt- and maybe the issue! 1 optima yellowtop- Brand New 2 shuriken bt35's - 1 brand new 0ga from alt to optima 0ga to rear batteries All zero gauge grounds- all Knu copper no cca Fosgate T1500bd-cp@2ohms on sundown x12 Fosgate t600-4 only running fronts right now. Polk Sr6500's So as it goes, I added a new alt this week. A so called 180amp alt. Ever since this went in, I have had MAJOR dimmimg issues. Went for a drive after work. Lights dim and it feels like my truck is starting to surge at around 1500-2000rmp while I drive. At every RPM my lights dim Anyone got some thoughts? I am lost and am thinking the new alt is no good. TrevorMunro
Frame to block, battery to frame, rear batteries to frame. All bare metal. Stock alt never had any of these issues. Oh ya its so much fun.........
hdorre
Hmm.. everything looks straight. Id want a but more battery reserve, but what you have shouldn't be bad. What company alternator? The only thing that concerns me is the alt not putting out its rated power. Do you know how low your voltage drops? TrevorMunro
When its playing sits at 14.1 - 14.2. Thats on heavy bass, its the fast bass that kills it. My truck surges to the bass, almost not safe. My mechanic got me the alt from a local shop. Its hard to find one for my truck. I think its f'd to be honest. Guest
DC power or mechman dont make alts for your 3 liter duratec?? no way. have you called/emailed them? its likely the alt. when i had ebay alts in my corolla, fast bass would cause the voltage regulator to wig out and i'd see like low 12's to low 16v. in the matter of a second. but steady bass was fine. vetkilr01
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... I would check all connections. If that doesnt do it, then the alt is not doing what is should, more then likely at the low rpm range.
