I do and got security cameras too. But I have always had vehicles worth money so I don't take a chance. And that's fine. I didn't expect anyone to do it. We are experienced with diesels. I don't expect you to go through the whole truck but if you could just go drive it let it warm up completely both engine water temp and oil then go get on it. Just like til it shifts to 5th and just look for the obviously tranny slippage, unusual noises, hard/pulling steering wheel.
