rockFord_Expedition Posted November 12, 2013 Report Share Posted November 12, 2013 There isn't one for sure answer here. You're talking about on music right? What voltage range is acceptable for you? The alternator is the only part of your electrical (assuming a 12v system) that keeps voltage above 14, or above the resting voltage of the batteries I should say. Never want to drop below 14.4 (or whatever the charging voltage of your alternator is)? Then don't draw more current than what the alternator can produce. Most systems do drop below the charging voltage of the alternator which at this point you are relying on a combination of alternator and battery power. With a nice battery bank I would say about 10k. You will have voltage drop, but as long as you monitor it well and don't let it get too low you should be fine. Run PLENTY of wire so it doesn't get too hot and to minimize loss.
