05Malibu Final Build - DC - PRV - SHCA - XS - SINGER

Recommended Posts

Decided to give tinting a whirl... (First time)

I ordered some precut single ply window tint film awhile ago.

I opted for the cheaper stuff bc it was going to be my first time and I fully expected a mishap or 2.

That being said, I got the back side windows done with 30%. The film wasn't the best, and the installer wasn't much better lol

so it'll eventually be redone, but for now, I think it looks ok. No noticeable bubbles or contamination from outside or at a glance, but up close I can see imperfections.

And the front windows ripped on me... Partial blame on film, coupled with user error... Haha

Oh well that's why I got the cheap stuff.. Live n learn :)

Looks good, I bought tent a long time ago and never applied it myself. Messed around and wrinkled it too much then just tosed it, Thumbs up for going after it.

Thanks, yea I was real iffy on doing myself too. But I've had it for months and figured it was time to stop being a Sally and just go for it. Haha.

I'm gonna order better stuff and redo it in the near future.. Bc I'm loving the tint, even on just the backs, cut glare on my iPad a ton, and it doesnt get as hot from the sunlight.

I should've done it years ago lol

This really has nothing to do with my build, but just thought I'd share one of my latest projects from my job. (It's a badass car and I'm pretty proud of it, came out beautiful)

72' Dodge Charger, that was next to a barn fire, needed a body work and paint. Pics don't do the paint job justice but its a white diamond pearl.

I didn't do the paint job, but pretty much everything else besides that.

Hope you like, sorry it's not updates haha :)

Ok, well, now that youve shown it, you need to start a build log for the Charger. I dont know if you own it, but Im sure some will agree, if you dont, you need to steal it to make a log.

As for the tint job, you are a brave soul. I can say there are probably only two people I know who have tried and you seem to be the most successful. Congrats man!

Not mine.... I wish. Haha. Unfortunately we are almost done with it. We're painting the hood bubble and spoiler, putting on mirrors, door handles and trim and its on to the next place.. Supposedly getting an engine, tranny, and suspension swap. I wish I could see it thru to completion, I would definitely do its own build log if that were the case. I'll post some "finished" pics on Monday when it leaves the shop.

I did do the vinyl graphics on the side today tho... Might as well post some pics of that as well hahaha :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sharing a recent box I built for 2 15" L7s. Going in a 2001 Tahoe.

Box is double baffled, 10.2 cuft after displacements, 188sq in of port, tuned to 33hz.

Mock up

Port area and sides assembled, the rest is only placed for pic at this point. Added a bracing to the front

At this point it was time to take it to the garage, added the main brace, and got everything but top piece assembled.

Before adding the top, I did a mixture of resin/body fill (milkshake) on the interior seams, creating kind of a "round over". I did this instead of doing 45s.

(Sorry didn't take pics of this process or finished result before adding the top)

I also body filled the screw holes and the outside seams as well

Holes cut... Placed them as far back from port as possible.

And subs fit :)

Added terminals and mounted the subs using 1/4" bolts and t-nuts.
