Beavis Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Hi I'm new to these forums and just recently got into car audio. I currently have 2 12in mtx's in my 2003 3 series. I'm getting a new car soon, probably a chevy cavalier or other small two door car because my Beamer has almost 200k on it and its turning into a money pit. I'm looking to do a much more serious build for my next car, I was thinking about doing a wall with 4 15s. I'm currently looking at sundown, but I'm open to anything around $500 a woofer. My goal is basically to have as much bass as possible in a daily driver. I've read some threads about builds similar to what I'm planning to do, but I still have a lot of questions. Mainly to do with the wall construction, I know using mdf for boxes is common, is that what most people use for their walls? I also saw a few builds using birch, would this be better to use? Also, I was wondering about what kind of head unit to get. I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong area or making an other noob mistakes.
Smoove Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Welcome to the forum. You have plenty of options a $500 a sub. Sub choice also depends on how much power your planning to run. Lots of good HU's out there as well. Are you looking for single din or double? I have never built a wall so I can't speak to that. 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
Beavis Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 Single or double din doesn't really matter, but I'll probably go with a double din. I'm looking to do a 4-5k watt system.
Smoove Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 5k would be perfect on 4 Sundown X's. 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
Miguels Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 hmm if you was willing to get 12k watts you could do 4 Fi sp4.. they are cheap till tomorrow your budget for subs is really good.. for the amount of power you want to use you will spend even less than the $500 you have per sub my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

Beavis Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 Unfortunately I don't have money free right now, I just want to start planning things out so I can start sound deadening, working on the box/wall... Also so I could have a total price to work towards. I'm reluctant to buy anything until I actually get my new car. I think I have decided on 4 of these subs http://www.1800woofers.com/sundown-audio-x-15-1250w-subwoofer/ With 2 of these amps http://www.1800woofers.com/sundown-audio-saz-2500d-v-2/ How many/ what kind of mids and highs would I need to go with these woofers? It would be nice to do an all sundown system, but I've heard good things about crescendo also.
