79 cutty
So naturally the winter months are upon us in the great north and I own a split entry house, meaning my basement is about 80% underground....this translates into the wife complaining CONSTANTLY about how cold the rooms are downstairs. Our room is downstairs and that means EVERY single night I get to hear about it. We have a high efficiency heating/cooling system......but it's still hard to cool rooms that have concrete foundation almost completely under frozen tundra! Anyways....was wondering if anyone had any experience with these Dyson "heaters:" http://www.dyson.com/Fans/Heaters/AM05/AM05-Black-Nickel.aspx I hate the idea of a spaceheater...so I feel more comfortable purchasing something like this, was just wondering if they worked, and are worth the loot! Soccerballzs
Have you tried to adjust the dampers in the air vents of your furnace. close some of the ones up a little to let more air into lower levels. The should be dampers on all the runs of hvac duct work. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
S15_Silvia
I owned one for about 3 days. Bought it, and the damn thing wouldn't get out of its calibration phase. It apparently has to get its internal thermometer acquainted with the room it's in upon initial setup. Mine just sat there for hours throttling the fan up and down between full on and silent. Needless to say, I saved around $230 by returning it and getting a Vornado space heater. EDIT: and by 'space heater' I mean this thing with a fan: http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Whole-Panel-Vortex-Heater/dp/B004Q19T74/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1386020572&sr=8-6&keywords=vornado+heater works WONDERFULLY 2016 Subaru BRZ | Sony XAV-AX100 | Rockford Fosgate DSM 4080 & DSM 40ix | On 6/6/2012 at 6:32 PM, 'LZTYBRN' said: 3. 79 cutty
BASS_Zealot!-Thanks for the info. Good to know if I decide to go that route it won't be a complete waste of money. Soccerballzs-I have tried adjusting the dampers as much as I can. I have had a couple people suggest completely closing the ones for the upstairs and opening the ones for downstairs (the whole heat rising thought process) but was told by the people who installed the new furnace/AC that isn't wise as your furnace will still work just as hard but due to the heat sitting in the ducts it can actually end up damaging the system because it is backing up the heat and airflow into the furnace instead of through the ducts. S15_Silvia-Thanks for the link....I might have to look into those a little more. Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. 79 cutty
Well, small update....I sucked it up and decided to pick up the Dyson one....the main reason I went that route is because it is "bladeless" and both my young kids LOVE to play with the fans in the house during the summer, so between that, and the fact it shuts off if tipped over seemed like a great perk with the little ones. Going to give it to the wife for Christmas (more as a joke than anything as we don't buy each other stuff for the holiday's) and we'll see how it works. If it sucks I will definitely be returning it and trying out those cheaper ones though! Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight.
