oldsoundguy Posted June 30, 2014 Author Report Posted June 30, 2014 So some weird shit is going on here. lol I swapped the pioneer deck back in and I do get a small amount of amp noise in the speakers but maybe half of what the Clarion had when the rca's were not plugged in. Then when you turn it up it doesn't get louder. This is with the RCAs plugged in so Iam not sure whats to blame. My thinking is that the amp does make some noise then for some reason the clarion deck amplifies it somehow through the deck where the pioneer doesn't. Might have something to do with the internal amp in the Clarion? It does give you the option to turn it off and I tried it both ways and it made no difference. IDK its crazy though. I will contact Clarion tomorrow and ask them about it. I have already sent the vids and email to soundqubed to see if is maybe the amp. IMO I don't think the amp should make any noise through the speakers with no RCA hooked up. On a good note I did get the pioneer to sound really good. I have the tweets and mids crossed on the amp now and it sounds great for now. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

oldsoundguy Posted June 30, 2014 Author Report Posted June 30, 2014 So I was off work early today so I came home and did some tuning. The highs were a little harsh so I wanted to tone them down a bit. Well now I finally have it sounding the way I wanted. I tuned the tweets by ear. I turned the gain down just a little and then used the HPF and set it to sound good. If I cross the tweets too high they sound bad and too low is just not good for them. I tuned it to sound best to my ears. Then I played with the mid's. I had them running on band pass crossed at 80hz to 2500hz. Then I put them on full pass and man they just sound way better. I did use the HPF on the deck to cut them off at 80 hz but they play as high as they can. The mix of the mids and tweets sound real good. The sub always sounded good.. lol I have sent Sonic a return authorization and will be sending the Clarion back. Well that's it for today. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

oldsoundguy Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 Well I got started on my doors today. The reason for doing the tweets like this is I don't like the soundqubed plastic covers that came on the tweets. Came home and I made two mounts for my tweeters. I used 1/2" mdf and traced the first one out, cut the holes and did a slight round over on the edge. I will hot glue the tweet in the mount and wrap it with some type of speaker fabric. I will drill out two holes in the middle and epoxy some small bolts in so I can mount them to the door and you wont see the tweet or the screws. I hope it turns out ok. They are pretty simple but should do the trick. Yes I took pics... lol Rough cut Rough cut with tweet Both sanded with tweet 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
bcbrassard Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Looks nice! Hopefully you get the new HU early next week.
oldsoundguy Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Looks nice! Hopefully you get the new HU early next week. I have changed plans again. I am going to wait until I get my doors done before I think about changing the HU. Bought black fabric to wrap the tweeters in. I bought extra to use for fiber glassing the door panels. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
