Psykotyk Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Ok so i installed 4 soundtream 6.5 component speakers in my 2006 ford escape.. i have them powered by a soundstream tx4.440, which is putting out 70 rms per channel at 4 ohm. The speaker systems are 80 rms at 4 ohm so i figured them only being 10 rms underpowered wouldn't make that much difference in volume but they are ALOT quieter than my stock speakers were.. when i turn it up to around 29 (deck goes to 35) my speakers shut off but my amp isn't in protect mode. so could this be my amp is shit? speakers are shit? bad rcas? bad grounds? if your confused please be penitence and i'll try and make things clearer... cheers
CleanSierra Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Check ALL grounds first. Next check for a pinched wire, like a speaker or remote wire. You may have a piece of wire pinched and the wire exposed to the metal on the car. Try that first before swapping RCAs .How was the gain on the amp set? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Psykotyk Posted December 10, 2013 Author Report Posted December 10, 2013 i'll check ground them speak wires..i set the gains just using my ear
CleanSierra Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 And you have each speaker to its own terminal on the amp right? You're using the xovers that came with them I assume and you're running a positive and negative to each xover from the amp right. Like each xover is getting a corresponding channel on the amp? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Soccerballzs Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Are you using crossovers that were supplied with speaker!? If you are they may have built in protection for overpowering. When you turn volume down do they play again? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
Skullz Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Did it have a premium sound system in it prior to the new install? Proper door treatment goes a long way in helping you to get the most out of your components in the quality and output in how well they'll sound. Honestly though 70w is not a lot of power for comps, look into getting something along the lines of 125w and up, cause once you start getting some power in a sub stage they'll be over powered in a hurry.
