Gavin
Steve, I have a 95 honda accord wagon, that I will use for spl only, it will hold 2 atomic apx18D1's. I hear that small boxes are doing the high scores, question, how small should I make this box? The car likes low hurtz (43~46Hz) that is a killer on my system.. advice please the system 2 Autotek MM4000's 2 apx 18D1's 3 kinitek 2400 Monsters 3 no name truck batteries Since the subs are D1's, I'm also thinking of doing 1 sub wired to both MM4000's 8k to one sub! :-* could you give me some advice on both of these setups? remember, this car will be all out spl SS 1~2 looking to hit low to mid 60's ;D Thanks Gavin :-[ Quote www.competitionsoundz.comTeam R&RTeam MaxxsonicsTeam DC AudioTeam PowermasterTeam KinetikHooker car audio
Ray
a low 60 is really loud. and with only 8kw is gonna be rough. small boxes are usally found in regular street classes, as far as ss 1-2 we are all building big walls. for 1 woof, should be around 7-7.5 cuft. tuned at 49hz. then burp a 45-46 tone or so.. most high scores are done with around a 60hz tone.. or higher. Gavin
Ok then, I know I would have to math here an there for the box rise and stuff, but basically, how much raw power would you suggest to get into the 60's? you said 8k would be rough, what would be a sure shot? example, 10k, 12k..etc.. Ray
the mic is wierd, it might not like your car at all. build it, see what you get and then go from there. meade916
nothing is a "sure shot".....160 is no joke and will take lots of work to get there. I personally think you will need a pure SPL box and probably 15,000 watts or more to see that 60 bro and it more than likely wont happen on the first second or even fifth try. The old mics dont count, my tahoe can do mid 60's on it :^ :V......the new TL mics will be rough. Gonna have to try lots of different things and take it 1/2 a db at a time. Gavin
Boss man I know it will not be easy, but since I'm going for the goal next season, I'm thinking about changing my car to an astrovan, the setup will be as follows. 4-goliaths 2- atomic apx 18D1's 8 - powermaster 16v batts. and throw in a powermaster charger to make everything nice! also a nice alt (maybe) I know there will be lots of work to be done but, the raw materials are there. correct me if I'm wrong! got this idea from Rusty over at WCA ;D Quote www.competitionsoundz.comTeam R&RTeam MaxxsonicsTeam DC AudioTeam PowermasterTeam KinetikHooker car audio

Ray, it already has become an obsession!!! all summer working in the rain, heat, late nights (3am.alone!) all to find out that my first box was crap, it trashed both of my subs and amps! installed new boxes that were labeled spl boxes (via kicker!) to find out they were nothing more than super street bass boxes tuned to 30Hz! and now I got a car that has a sun roof, likes very low notes.. 30 ~36Hz. So far nothing is going right for me! fagetabout the credit card! Man, sometimes I just think there is no f**kin way I'm gonna hit 150. All I would like to say is of Team maxxsonics and you, I won't quit. Just living in Japan makes it a lot harder to get the goal.. thanks for your time Ray & everyone else that chimed in. wish me luck.
