trying to get an idea

k so im trying to get an idea for my electrical so i know what to save for.

H/O, gonna need one but idk who to get one from ive contacted several placed with no responce "98 dodge neon"

upfront

xsd2400-70ah

in the spare tire well.

xsd7500-140ah

and then on each side of the rear of the trunk 4 total.

xs950-35ah so 140 total

that as well as 800f rounded down worth of cap banks. within 2 feet of my amp.

what i plan to run

ctsounds-4k @ .5

125.4 @ 4

125.2 @ 2

then conecting everything will be shca ofc 2/0 2 runs of + ,- from front to rear. im thinking about doing. 1 run of the + from the battery - back then the 2nd from the alt. it should still be the same as running both from the battery being the + on the battery will conect to the alt with 2/0. but this is mainly for placement purposes and ease of the runs.

thoughts, opinions and advice. i also plan to add an xs charger in a perminent set up so i can plug the car in at night or how ever often it may need it

The dodge neon has a 4 rib pulley on our cars and getting anything over 150a will be major belt slip, mechman i think can make a 150a alt for it which will have a 100% duty cycle and live much longer than a stock unit will.

Another option is to get the 2004/2005 SRT4 130a stock unit which will fit with a small mod to the top ear so it will slide in and out to make adjustments tightening. You will need the plug that goes with it as it is different than the one on our cars. I got one off ebay used with the plug still attached so that solved my problems for an alt larger than the 90a stock unit.

With what your wanting to run another option is to remove the A/C unit and add a second one wire alt in it's place and fab a bracket for it, most likely you'll only be able to get by with 150a alt as a second alt cause you only have one v-belt pulley and anything over that will likely slip bad.

So all in all there are few options for the neon in the H/O alt area for us with only a 4 rib and single v-belt set-up.

what determins belt slip because of the style pulley or the motor not making enough power to spin it?

i was looking into a 2.4 out of a 98 stratus to swap to make up for all the weight i plan to add but im pretty sure that uses the same style pully

/ i was looking into getting the srt4 alt i asked about it on here before and someone said i wouldnt notice much of a difference going from stock to that./ ive seen the mechmans but to try and purchase one has been a pain

on another note i have seen a v6 swap into my style so perhaps.... lol

I think the second alt in place of the ac unit may be your only option unless...Now im speculating here.... You get a universal alt from mechman DC or any other good company, and try to re do how your pully system is. This may be able to help but i dont know. i hope some one alse can put more in to the second idea.

well with a 150 and everything listed id think id have very minal drop full tilt especially if i charged everything each night

do the swap for the 130 amp alt them get a 150 amp alt from Mechman and get a bracket made to put it in place of your AC.

280 alt amperage plus batts and your cap Bank. If the alt it's pcm controlled an adjustable external regulator could help maintain voltage to

Oh and take the rms out put of each amp divide by it's efficiency then divide that by 13 volts. Gives a rough idea of the amperage that amp will need at 13v in order to make rated power. You can divide by what ever your charging voltage is to see the needed amperage at charging voltage to.

Example

1500 watt amp .7% efficiency

1500/.7=2142

2142/13=162 amp needed.

At 14.4v it would be closer to 130 amps of power draw to make rated power.

Add the results for each amp and add the amperage the car needs to get Assn idea of the per supply you will need.

Don't know how ti convert farads to ah though.

It's just a rough estimate, got the math from asonicelectronix YouTube video.

On music it won't put out rms sure to the change of freq changing impedance. Amps only put out rated at a certain freq range so the math more along the lines of determines peak amperage draw and not actual draw.

and its for 03-05 but it could prolly be modded to work like said above. just wondering on your thoughts being its a 240 amp
