xile Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Looking for some input on a box for 2 15 l3's. I've always ran sealed boxes. The subs are currently in a sealed box and really dont sound good so I figured I'll build a ported. I'm looking for input on box size and port and woofer location. These are in a trailbazer so I have plenty of room. My thoughts were a 10 cube net box with 2 individual chambers. Tuned to 35Hz. I want to do flared tube ports instead of a slot port. I was thinking subs up and ports rear. Any info would be appreciated. What I'm working with 2 15" L3's dual 4 ohm Hifonics amp 1000 rms @ 1 ohm Big 3 done on trailblazer and 2/0 power cable. Thanks!

Second i would not put them in a box with 2 chambers it will eat up a lot more space from what i understand. Also may be 1 reason they don't sound good is if there in a prefab box. xile Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks for the reply. My max width is 42 and can go 24 high and 24 deep. I have plenty of space. The box I planed on building would be 24dx40wx24h.

jarrius Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 With 24Lx24Hx40W i get 13.3cubes before displacement of the subs and port and the subs only need 5cubes a piece so 10cubes total so i feel with the dementions you want it should be ok but i could be wrong. xile Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 They dont get low and definitely dont sound like a 15 hitting. The box just barely meets the min requirements for sealed.
xile Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 Looks like the best size would be 24x40x23. That should give me 10.78 cf before subs and ports. 4 4x5 flared ports should put me right around 35Hz.
