Facekicker
Microsoft Security Essentials (or Defender if you haven't updated it) Lowest on resources by a fucking mile. Free. Norton and AVG should be avoided at all costs. Malwarebytes Anti Malware should be used once monthly as well. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
Jessica
We use eset at work. At home I use win defender and malwarebytes. But I like avast also. The security essentials is being extended for win xp until 2015 but still will be supported for the new o/s after that so it will be around a long while yet. I also use k9 on my kids PC and only let them use a guest account. That PC is so locked down it ain't funny Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. n8ball2013
I view windows operating system as a necessary evil along with office. That's their specialty. Since i do information security for a living my point of view comes from enterprise level support. I've also used Linux based os for a client and then you have macs. Neither Linux or mac is worth a shit at a client level in a domain setting. Microsoft actually gave away enterprise level support a few years back when they got in that market because they had no one wiling to pay. The anti virus market is saturated and like I said above anti virus is definition based. Microsoft is so spread out that they tend to not develop definitions as well as dedicated security solution shops. When was the last time Microsoft actually came out with a proactive solution to any issue they've had? They are always reactive. As far as I'm concerned if I am going to rely on something to protect me I'm going to pick someone who specializes in it and doesn't do it as an oh by the way. Microsoft has solutions for everything but these other companies who provide the same stuff thrive. If Microsoft had a better solution it would be a no Brainerd to use because it can Al he managed under the mmc. That's my perspective. Maxim
I use Windows Defender (Security Essentials built into Win8) and weekly Malwarebytes scans on my desktop. I've considered spending money on a paid solution but I personally don't see the value in it given how I use my computers. We use Symantec Endpoint Protection at my office and I like it as an enterprise solution considering the management tools they provide. I just wish the client played a little nicer with the half-dozen Macs floating around our Engineering department. wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers. I was hoping for 150 . beaker
Good luck, the only way I've ever seen that removed successfully is a reinstall of Windows. I use SEP at home and work. I haven't found anything that works better.
