My question is can I run both the stock alt and the h.o one? The problem being theyd have to charge at the same voltage.. one is internally regulated. one is external. Would or rather could i set the external to the same voltage as the stock for now untill i got a 2nd aftermarket unit? P4killer_ Posted February 11, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 No im working on it. The car has engine mounts for a p/s pump used on 2006 and earlier models. Mine has electric p/s on the column so this mounting location for a p/s pump is open. I was like wooow i could likely put an alt there.... found the 2006 mounting bracket.With a little luck an alt should bolt right up. maybe some plates to make on of the mounting holes work, but no major work.. space it right, and done. Id might as well go 16v then and make aloooot more power. Id like to combined the 12v output and not have to switch amps and batts.. I think the internal one may be able to be controlled from an external regulator too. So you could wire it to the external regulator and they will both charge at the same voltage. I suppose I could send it off and have it externally regulated by some company, but itd rather save that money for a second h.o alt..
