TheBrown57
Update time! Went through the build log and fixed all the broken images. Hopefully the new ones will stay put this time. So the Alpines are sold and I have my new Skar IVXs installed! Love the sound of these. They seem to produce clearer bass compared to the Alpines but that could just be me. Decided to get rid of the black automotive carpet I had on the box with the Type Rs and use some of the left over suede I had from the doors. TheBrown57
Update time!Took the box out to put fiberglass on areas I knew needed reinforcing and applying SHCA 120mil Deadener as well. First up was getting everything out of the trunk.Box and false floor/walls out.Put the false floor back in and this is how my trunk was for the better half of a week.Left the subs sitting above my desk at work.Only ordered 16.5sqft of deadener but this is what 2 sheets got me out of the 3. I sanded the rust areas before applying and also wiped everything down with alcohol we have here at work. Used a heat gun as well to warm the metal and the deadener since it is rather cold in Ohio right now.Still have resin and some mat/cloth left after this project. Mainly reinforced the port and certain spots that had separated. Sanded it a little bit but nothing extensive since the box is not visible and part of it will be covered by cloth.Front baffle with blue suede tacked on and ready for the sub holes to be cut.Subs in the box and waiting to be put back in the trunk.Back in and slammin! They definitely seem to be hitting harder and moving more air and there is less rattle in the trunk tanks to the deadener. I used the last sheet of it to patch areas on the rear deck and other spots that I felt needed a little bit.Overall happy with the SHCA 120mil Deadener and the SMD Sunflash resin. This was my first time using fiberglass resin and the UV activation made it a lot easier for me to take my time and get everything applied.Competition coming up this Sunday and will be competing in Park and Pound 1 again. So far I've won twice but there has been no one else in my class so I have won by default. Hopefully someone else will be competing and I can have some fun and earn a trophy. TheBrown57
Well I put her up for sale yesterday. Wanting to get something that will better fit my daily driving habits. Sad to see her go but I will have another bass car on day. Once I have a house and garage I plan on finding an older Suburban and making one loud ass car.
