How much electrical do I need

Recommended Posts

I have an 05 cavalier running over 7k in the trunk just got a 320amp alt, big 3 done, 1run of each pos and neg front to back optima yellow top and a group 31 Duracell in the trunk and stock batt under the hood. The 7k is total power of the 4amps I'm running my subs with. My question is how many runs of 1/0 how many grounds should I have and would it b good to add another run from the alt to b+? I will b adding another group31 soon

You do not need negative runs from front to back. For 7k RMS I would have at least 2 runs of 1/0 front to back. More preferably, but not necessity IMO (but I could be wrong?)

Also, what brand is your alt out of curiosity?

I agree with more batteries as well.

Batt's. Pretty price'y, but then again...you're running close to 7k out of the trunk. You're looking at XS7500's($800ish each) and those. PurpleSyrup gave me a price on a used one for a bit above $500, but well worth it. wrong battery, nvm. Used on eBay for $375

And new on amazon for $600

Short bit on pro's for those northstar's....

10 year float life, long/narrow/tall design, no maximum charge current...
