mmotux
Should I set my freqs with the amp or stereo? For my highs and mid my amp is set to : OFF on HP LP settings because on my stereo I have it cuttoff at 200HZ Should I use the settings on my amp instead? Jessica
The stereo gives you an accurate way to set crossovers with less flexibilty. The amp is less accurate but more flexible. Its just a matter of prefrence. Or you could get a cc-1 if you want flexible and accurate Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Nightshade
I always prefer the amp for the rough range of where I want the xover frequencies to be set at, then I will dial it it with the settings on the deck. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
Dude2800
I run my amp on full range and use the head unit to crossover everything. Depends on the setup.
Jessica
if you use deck and amp crossovers and lets say both are 12 db slopes, you end up with a 24db slope, but the issue that is worse than that is when you use a crossover it turns the phase 90° for every 12db of slope. Now imagine having the h/u at 80hz low pass with 12db of slope, now the amp is at 92 with 12db cause you "eyeball" it. Now you have these weird ass overlapping phases and slopes. Or worse, one is 12db and the other is 18db. That is why it is a good idea to use the same slope on all your crossovers and run them as close together as you can, e.g. 80lp on subs, 80hp on mids, 3k lp on mids 3k hp on highs. all 12db slope. Of course this doesnt always hold true because car acoustics and stuff. Short story, unless you know what you are doing just use one or the other. if you want more info on crossovers read this http://www.rane.com/note160.html Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
