Hey guys Been awhile since i posted here hope you guys had a good start to the new years, anyway I want my car to sound louder and much more clear temporarily I'm running some bottom shelf Rockford fosgate 6.5 in all four doors I'm thinking of looking into higher end speakers and adding a pair by the 3rd row seating possibly adding more speakers is there any recommended speakers I should be looking at ? I'm also guessing I'll need to upgrade alternator and possibly run an amp to my doors . Advice please and thank you

Yes you should really amp your component speakers. And i hate recommending a certain brand, there are so many good ones these days. But your enclosure is going to play a huge part in how good the speakers sound. My suggestion is to try and listen to as many systems as possible and make your own choice.

Look at it this way. The way i always explained to my kids was to look at your car audio system like a anatomy. 1) quality head unit is the heart of your system. If it goes down nothing plays.2) Battery is the food source for power, not enough juice, poor performance or system dies. 3) Amps are the muscle's of your system. 4) speaker wire and cables, send the system signals and feed it the power needed. 5) speakers and subs are the extremities of the system. without those you just have a core and are not going to get the job done. This is just my take and was an easy way explaining to the kids when they where growing up and learning to get started.

I see as for my subs I'm running two audiobahn 15s they sound good but I'm not looking for the pure all bass sound you know ? I'm thinking of running 2 6.5 per door Just not set on what brand as stated I'm really looking for clarity a good clean loud

I would start by improving the front stage of your system, Its really what you hear the most of since its closest to you. Truthsayer said it dead on importance of system and that speakers are a personal choice anymore. Budget is considered, sound quality, system set up, active or passive, EQing. Tons of factors! research and install make all the difference in the world. Good luck and keep us posted!

Passive : you use the (passive) filters provided in the set. So you'll have one tweeter and one mid on a single channel of the amp.

Active : each speaker is hooked on a channel of the amp. You'll need a 4 channels amp to play with 2 mids and 2 tweeters. This is more difficult to fine tune. You may need a processor, and use more amp channels than a passive system. But you can achieve better results if you take your time to do it.
