Question on my electrical

Recommended Posts

Maybe since you already got 1 run of the 1/0 CCA. I would just run another in parallel and fuse each one at 200 amps and make a nice copper or aluminum bus bar like he said to make all your connections on. Fabricating your own bus bar is real easy.

i have no idea about doing that + i already have the 2 250 amps fuses bought and in my room so i might as well order the ofc and fuse at 250 and from front battery positive to back battery positive and negative to negative right?

Answer this: is this your first build?

my first real one with decent equipment yes

Could I make a suggestion? Either sell you current amp or put it in storage for a little bit.

Purchase a 800-1200 watt amp from a reputable company like AQ, Sundown, DC, CT sounds, etc. You should be able to run that on stock alt, 2 batteries, and 1 run of CCA 0 gauge.

Because as it stands right now, the RF 2500bdcp is a big amp and a power hog. You'll need to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $750-1000 on electrical just to run it. Figure

$400-500 for an HO alt, $200-$400 on batteries, $100-200 or so on things like wiring, fuses, terminals, solder, distribution blocks, etc.

I'm getting the feeling that running this amp isn't within your means yet. And I don't want you to get frustrated with problems because your amp is too big for the rest of your build. I really do think you'll be happier with a smaller amp for now

i ran my bdcp 1500 on stock with no problems with 1 battery , was just ganna wire the 2500 down to 4 ohms so it did about 2100 would that be ok you think?

Well its simple to run 2 cables in parallel . Buy a big battery clamp that has a 3/8" stud. Buy some heavy duty 1/0 lugs. crimp them and solder and heat shrink your lugs. connect both 1/0 lugs to your positive. Fuse both cables as close to battery as possible. run through firewall and under carpet to trunk. A busbar is a flat piece of aluminum or copper maybe 3/8" thick cut it in a strip insulate it and drill some 3/8" hole to mount your lugs too. Your negatives will be connected to a good clean paint free surface to the frame. Make sure your sand or use a wire brush for a good ground. def go with a 250 a HO alternator atleast. And don't forget to fuse the back

your ohms load will definitely make a huge difference. That will effect how much power your really getting out of your amps

run 1/0 from stock battery 250 amp fuse to back stock battery 250 amp fuse at back battery, distribtuon block 250,50 amp fuse 1/0 to 2500 and 8ga to tma 440.4?

If your truly only pulling 2100W rms at a 4 ohm load, depending on your voltage that's about 150-175 amps . So If you do go with the 1/0 OFC and fuse it at 250 amps your definitely safe with that for now until you get a alternator and batteries.

sounds like a plan just need to find a cheap battery to put in the trunk any ideas ? And the current alt is 120 amps so I'll just watch the voltage and let the batteries charge up when it starts dipping lol

The XS D3400 is really what you will eventually want or something close but check some other brand on sonicelectronix that's is recommended for around 2000W or go to Chrome batterys.com and they sell some blockshakers. Im not the best when it comes to batteries but some internet searching should help.
