Xplay75
My question is what do you guys think would sound better in a 97 Monte Carlo a t line box or a l port my sub is a American bass xo 15 Ran by a 1500.1 Thanks for any input
Rudemaxxx
I think a ported box would sound better for a trunk personally, the T lines are usually made for tuning lower and they're larger in size. And for your set up in your car i think just a rear ported enclosure with your sub firing up would sounds pretty sick. bbeljefe
A transmission line will perform better but you'll have a tough time fitting one in a trunk. If you're willing to lose the back seat you can go with a 15" t-line but there's just no practical way you'll squeeze one into the trunk of a car. A line for a 15 will be, on average, 9 feet long with a line (port area) of 132in². That translates to about 9ftⁿ of total box displacement. Xplay75
I can fit a 4.5 cube after port displacement and my seats fold down I have it in a prefab box thats its minimum specs for sub and it sounds ok id like to get more of the low end bass and I know I cant fit a box for 2 15s
Rudemaxxx
Like I said, you can do a custom ported box that fits in your trunk and slams like a mofo. I'm bout to do it in my Jeep with 2 15's. I was gonna do a C or B pillar 4th order wall but, this just sounds better and you get to keep your seats while still being loud. Xplay75
ok thanks guys I didn't realize how big the t line would b lol.ok next question since I can only fit a 4.5 cube box after port displacement should I only run 1 15 and have the box at its max cubes for 1 sub or fit 2 in
Rudemaxxx
Run 1 with the proper cubes. It'll sound a lot better than starving 2 of the space. But as I recall those Monte Carlo trunks are huuuuge right? bbeljefe
A single sub in a large box will give you much better low end response than two in too small a box. The two will be louder at high frequencies but they will be eerily silent on the low notes.
