jmanjr82 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I was wondering if someone could do a sketch up of this: top & bottom 34" x 20" sides 18.5" x 18.5" front 28.5" x 18.5" back 34" x 18.5" port piece 1 18.5" x 16" port piece 2 18.5" x 14" overall outside box dimensions Height:20" Width 34" Depth 20"
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 well for 1, with the 20x20x34, assuming baffle on the 20x34 side along with the port on that side as well to the far left or right. 16 for port piece 1 does not fit to maintain 4.75" wide port that the pieces you noted make. The first piece would only need to be 14.5in from the front, and if it sits behind the baffle, only 13.75" so therefore the port 1 length and port 2 length would need to change.... and just so you know, if you need 30in of port length, that doesnt mean the walls need to equal 30in. Plus, you didnt specify cutouts for size of subwoofers...... i can do a sketch up, but you gave very little/ incorrect info it seems..... edit: HERE IS WHAT I NEED 1. Port width 2. Port length [not lengths of port 1 and 2, actual port length in total] 3. where is the port 4. what/how many subs 5. where is everything located and i dont need each pieces size, i need overall max dimesions, wood thickness you will be using, and those 1-5 points i just noted. ChevyBoy95 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 But if you want, I am again assuming what your design will look like. I did one of my own..... For 2 12" woofers..... 5 cubic feet (34x20x20) 35Hz Tuning (13 sqin per cubic ft) Port is 3.5" x 18.5" and is 20" long would look something like this..... jmanjr82 Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 1- Port Width: 4inches wide 2- Port Length overall would be 30 inches 3- Port to the right side firing back 4- 1 15inch sub on the left side firing up Overall max box dimensions are Height: 20 inches Width: 34 inches Depth: 20 inches Wood thickness is 0.75 All the information I took right off torres. based off the box you shown the port for my design is 18.5 tall 4inch wide and 16inches long giving 4inches of clearance from the back side of the box and the port piece 2 would obviously be the L to give the rest of the port length needed for an overall 30inches of length. Tuning is 34hz with 16 sqin per cubic ft
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 here it is.... port 1 would be 14.5, and the port 2 would be 10. That would give you 30in total port length. jmanjr82 Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 can you explain that more so I can understand? What I am seeing is 14.5 plus 1.5 for wood thickness which puts it at 16 plus 10.75 being 26.75inches. Where is the 30 coming from?
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 can you explain that more so I can understand? What I am seeing is 14.5 plus 1.5 for wood thickness which puts it at 16 plus 10.75 being 26.75inches. Where is the 30 coming from? because port length isnt actual port wall length. It is the length of the port measured from the CENTER of the port. So 2in off the wall in your case..... like this..... jmanjr82 Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 that makes perfect sense. So how do you calculate that based off the port opening? Do you just take half the port opening so in my case its 4inches wide so I take half that being 2?
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 that makes perfect sense. So how do you calculate that based off the port opening? Do you just take half the port opening so in my case its 4inches wide so I take half that being 2? yes. IF the port was 6in wide, you would take it 3in from the wall, if the port was 15 in wide, 7.5in from the wall.
