ILikeEggs Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Dont get l7s, i had 2 of those 15s on a kicker 2500.1 and they fucking stunk. I blew 2 of them and luckily they replaced them both.. No clip/bass boost, they just constantly smelled like shat.
Rehawk1 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Ok so what about Orion HCCA 15.2? This is going WAY back but I had a punch 18" in a olds delta 88 when I was in highschool pushing it with a punch 200 and I couldnt be touched, its been a long time since I have seen people pushing 18" and stereo shops here call 15" ancient dinosaurs but I have always ran 15"+. So any good suggestions on what subs to go with? This is going to be a long time project Im doing on my days off from the oilfield and a bonding expeirience with my son while building and hooking everything up I honestly do not care about price i care about quality and well DB! Lol any thoughs?
Rehawk1 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Also im looking at the RE XXX18D4 anyone have any expeirience with them?
Smurfboy Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 @Ilikeeggs, um, if you blew your subs, then something is wrong with your setup. I've ran L7 subs for more than 7 years; bangin' it hard and never had a single issue. It's funny, many people claimed that Kicker blew easily. But in my experience with L7's, not a problem. Hm...
Rehawk1 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 No my L7 didnt blow, but when I started banging it hard the amp went into protection mode and im not sure why? But I can see power will be a issue if I went with all hifonics amps
jarrius Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 What is your electrical like? Could have low voltage is why your amp went in to protect. Orion hcca's seem to be the new sub a lot of newer people are running besides kicker. There good subs from what I heard just costly because of the name attached to them from what I understand. Amp wise I would look at soundqubed if you want a cheap amp that will do rated power+ 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
Rehawk1 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 My voltage is not dropping below 12.8v now that i threw the 50 farad cap in, again I know ppl do not believe in caps but in this case it helped me. I just downloaded bass heads unite CD and pushed it hard and it did not shut off, Im running 1 alt and 1 batt right now and I think after a long time of pushing it yesterday my alt was getting hot because now its all cold it did not stumble once? My 3 alt bracket should be here wed then Ill have to figure the best place to order those, I have heard all good about mech man possible 3-300 amp would be a good start?
Guest Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 hifonics amps are horribly inefficient. not worth it. why cant you just get one or two good large amps instead of getting a bunch of smaller "meh" amps. you're going to have a hell of a time gain matching and making sure all the settings are identical on each of the six amps. edit: also, why l7's? if you're strapped for space, go with something else that doesn't need an olympic stadium for a box.
Ahmed Johnson Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Go check out soundqubed. It will cost the same if not less and you will be very happy.
Rehawk1 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Ok cool, ill check those out. I have no problem going with 2-3 huge amps and different subs but even to fit 4 will take a mammoth box im in the decision phase right now and the only for sure thing is power, i know im going to need a lot of it so that ball is in motion, what subs should I consider?
