I was asking some guys about cable difference in that section because I can get all size cable from work. That'll save some dollars too if I can get some in a good length. Most are like 6'-8' length. Though I do believe I can find some 12-15'. As for cost things are looking beautiful. I also saw that Ct amp you saw on eBay yesterday. That looked nice. Pretty much just got to focus on something that'll put out 1500w @ 4ohms with getting that dual 2 ohm VC. 97 Buick LeSabre with stock 140 amp alternator XS Power D3400 (under the hood) using pdb distro blocks Big 3 done with 2/0 ga welding cable Alpine CDE-HD149BT head unit CT Sounds Meso 6.5" components CT Sounds 60.4 CT Sounds 1400.1 Fi Q 12 D2 with cooling in 2.5 net tuned @32 hz (box built by Sound Mekanix Customs) Bunch of Sky High 1/0 ga & 4 ga cable (plus fuse holders) Connection BT2 & BT4 550 (Audison) RCA's Bunch of Mojo Mat
Aj11 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 no, why 4ohm? if you do your big 3 And get a good battery run 1ohm. a Amp that puts out 1500@ 4ohms is gonna be some major $$$$ i have a stock alt 2bats and i was running over 1500w at 1ohm with no problem! even tho i had a pcm Alt i didn't drop below 13.4 And that's starting at 13.8. The two that I was interested in are the BRZ 1700. 1D 1700w @ 1 ohm $209 or Brx 1600. 1d 1600w @ 1 ohm $219. Regarding single din head units, Crutchfield (or Sonic or whoever) says aren't compatible most likely because of OEM integration features such as steering wheel control, et al. Physically, they will all fit so if you plan to do a full aftermarket system and you can live without OEM feature integration (assuming you have it), then choose a radio you like and buy it. As Kenwood goes, I wouldn't recommend anything other than the Excelon line but I would highly recommend anything from Alpine or Pioneer. And beyond head units and processors, I would not recommend anything else from any of the aforementioned. Also, you've mentioned better eq a few times. Better than what? Do you want to purchase an outboard eq or do you want better built in eq than what you have now? I'm thinking the latter and you probably explained that but it's a long thread and I'm old and tired so forgive me if I missed it. :-) Another thing you mentioned a few times is higher preamp voltage. Again, forgive me if I missed something but higher than what? You can get your amplifier's maximum output from a true 2 volt preamp signal, so there's no need for these 8 & 10 volt preamp outs unless you're chasing numbers in the lanes and you plan to clip your drivers. But for a moderate daily system, a 4 volt preamp signal is more than enough... and 2 volts would be too if you could find a good quality 2 volt preamp. Lastly, the Hifonics BRZ and BRX amps are okay amps but they're not the quality of amp you started out looking for. They do rated power but if I'm not mistaken, Maxxsonics rates them at 5%THD while better quality manufacturers rate their amps at 1%THD. I would recommend looking at a bit higher quality amplifier and while that will cost a bit more, it will cost nowhere near what you were previously planning to spend. Joe X Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Hifonics do rated RMS at 1% THD but at 14.4V, not everyone can get sustained 14.4V so most people won't see rated out of them, then they have reliability issues, while many people use them successfully I would put a little more money towards something of better quality, that be CT sounds or many others not mentioned here yet.
