trisdog74 Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I added a optima under the hood a kinetic hc800 battery in my trunk and a battery cap. it stopped my lights from dimming and my subs hit harder. Voltage drops around 12.5 when I play my music and thats about 80% turned up and I was just looking for some info. Dont want to kill my 2nd battery and I only listen to my music with the car running. Haven't upgraded my alternator yet and 4 guage wire for my system Hifonics brutus elite 1700 2 pioneers tsw30 at 2 ohm

wccfan12 Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Upgrade to zero gauge power and ground wires for that amp, do the big three, and upgrade the alternator to something from Mechman, Dc power, Singer, or excessive amperage and you'll be good. I had a Hifonics Brutus 1700.1 so kind of similar amp and I ran 0 gauge to it. I wouldn't run anything less than 0 gauge on more than 1500 watts personally. If you're that far below alternator capacity the only way to better your voltage for more than a couple more minutes is by adding alt power. Alternators are like the heart of the system. Or ditch the cap and the kinetic 800 and get a group 31 deka intimidator or C&D battery in the back. They can be found cheap in the classifieds section of caraudioclassifieds.org. That's where I bought my C&D secondary batt and now me and the guy I bought it from are friends, lol. But we live in the same city so we are pretty close together. You would definitely be good after that unless you drive around playing full tilt test tones the whole time you're driving.
